Ask Yourself these Questions:
- What do you want to put on the rack?
- Where are you planning to store it?
- Are you going to use it for dish transportation?
After you have answered those questions, you should be ready to pick out the perfect dish or glass rack for you. Here are the subcategories broken down for a clearer decision:
Choosing the type depends solely on what you want to wash, for example, bowls, flatware, plates, platters, pans, trays, cups, etc. each have a glass rack category of their own. If you are washing flatware, it would be necessary to buy a flatware rack. For plates, a plate rack, and so on.
“Style” refers to where the rack is open/closed and the number of compartments. Closed wall racks are great for storage and reduce risk of breakage/contaminants, but they greatly sacrifice the cleaning ability. Open end racks are best suited for trays or long dishes. Open sides are more difficult to store, but they offer the most cleanliness. Open racks are multi-purpose racks that are used to wash, soak and store.
Full size racks are useful for large volume restaurants and are more efficient because they accommodate more dishes. On the other hand, half size racks tend to be more efficient for restaurants with limited space or low volume. They also add extra organization.
