Charcuterie boards — the always-popular tray/cutting board/cheese board filled to the brim with fruits and veggies, fine (or regular) deli meats, dips, and of course, cheese. Of course, we can’t tell you everything that should or should not go on your charcuterie board in this article… mostly because there are no rules! If you are vegetarian, omit the meats. If you’re vegan, omit the cheeses and meats and load up on delicious flavored hummuses, guacamole, and other dips. There are a million ways to make a charcuterie board — no two are the same, and there is not one “right” way.
Here, we show you a few ideas of how to arrange your board, suggestions of what to include, and (arguably one of the most important parts!!!) what to serve your charcuterie on.
First, the basic ingredients:
For our board(s), we decided to keep it simple and classic.
- colby jack cheese
- cranberry/onion sharp cheddar
- Mediterranean olive blend
- pepper-crusted salami
- sliced apples
- rosemary/sea salt flatbread crackers
- fresh rosemary (just for fun/good scents!)
Board Style #1: Long, skinny, and rectangular.
The first board we use here is a black slate board from American Metalcraft’s Endurance collection. It’s melamine so it is easy to clean as well as being functional and a beautiful choice for a pretty cheese board. The black lets all the different foods stand out!
After the black, we decided to go for a more rustic and bright look with this off-white platter from World Tableware’s Farmhouse collection. This platter gives you the same effect and similar layout options, but it’s lighter and brings more warmth with its off-white color and real ceramic construction.
Board style #2: Pizza-Peel Style.
These are just bound to be a hit with everyone!! They are stylish and simple, and you can’t go wrong with a cheeseboard on one of these stylish platters. You can squeeze all the ingredients for your favorite cheese spread onto one of these and it will look fantastic! These are perfect as an appetizer in your restaurant.. (looking at you, restaurant owners!!) because they are great for a large party to snack on before their meal! And with high quality pieces like these cheese boards, your diners will be impressed and satisfied.
Continuing with the pizza-peel theme, we couldn’t resist sharing this large round platter, also from American Metalcraft. It is the same melamine construction with a faux slate finish that is modern and stylish. This one is perfect for a really loaded-up platter of goodies — you can fit a lot of charcuterie on this tray!
We had so much fun putting together these charcuterie boards! These trays are a great choice for your restaurant and are a perfect way to display seasonal appetizer items or the amazing charcuterie board you have on your menu! Not only are they great for restaurants and cafes, they are the perfect thing to put together for quick hors d’oeuvres if you have guest coming over for dinner or just need something lighter to snack on. They are great for parties, summer dinners al fresco, or light lunches with friends. The possibilities with charcuterie are truly endless!
